Curated Lines Publishing will offer a small number of free resources that are associated with our publications. They will be added to this page as they become available.
Book of the Spirit
In developing this small collection I wanted to celebrate – to write in praise of – writing, particularly poetry, love poetry especially, by creating a work in which the medium itself was the message. I suppose that I came to see in this venture a similarity with other paeans, other celebrations, perhaps even with older devotional traditions. Eventually, that comparison shaped both the language and the structure. Perhaps inevitably, many of the poems merge the secular with the theistic, the language borrows from religions and there are references drawn from religious works. These notes may help with an understanding of sources and references.
One of our earliest publications – Braiding Brexit: A Lemming’s-eye View has always been freely available from the remote e-book site on which it first appeared. If you want a page-turning read on the screen you can find the link on the Books page. A PDF file can be downloaded here.
Braiding Brexit brings together a number of my poems that were written – often in some frustration – during the initial Brexit negotiating process. Some are explicitly about Brexit, others more obliquely so – in fact, someone at a readings said to me that perhaps if I hadn’t spoken of the context, it was probable that no one would have understood that the first poem was indeed referring to Brexit!
